Terms and Conditions

These terms apply to everyone who registers for Curry-O-Sity, the food quiz, on 12th September 2026 at Odissi Research Centre, Bhubaneswar.

1. Teams and eligibility

  • Each team must have exactly two participants.
  • A team enters one category: School, University, or Open. School and University teams must name their institution.
  • Both participants in a School team must be students of the school named. The same applies to University teams.
  • Open is for the general public. There is no age or institution requirement.
  • Organisers may ask for a student ID or other proof of the category claimed at registration.

2. Registration

  • Registration is free.
  • One registration per email address. If you need to correct a submitted entry, contact the organisers rather than registering again.
  • Registering reserves a place but does not guarantee entry to the final rounds, which are decided by the preliminary round on the day.
  • Give a contact number you can be reached on. Event updates go out by email and WhatsApp to the details you register with.

3. On the day

  • Report to the venue by the time communicated before the event. Late teams may not be admitted to the preliminary round.
  • Bring a photo ID. Student teams should bring their institution ID.
  • Phones and any other reference material must stay away during the rounds. Using them during a round means disqualification.
  • Participant substitutions on the day are at the organisers' discretion.

4. Quiz and scoring

  • The Quiz Master's decision on any question, answer, or score is final.
  • The format, number of rounds, and tie-breaker rules will be explained at the start and may be adjusted on the day.
  • Any conduct that disrupts the quiz or gives a team an unfair advantage may lead to disqualification.

5. Prizes

  • The total prize pool is ₹40,000, distributed across winning and finalist teams as announced at the event.
  • Prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash beyond what is announced.
  • Winners may need to provide identification to collect a prize. Any taxes or deductions required by law are the winner's responsibility.

6. Your information

  • The details you submit, participant names, contact number, email, and institution, are used only to run this event: to confirm your registration, to contact you with updates, and to verify your category.
  • Your details are not published, sold, or shared with anyone outside the organising team.
  • To have your registration removed, contact the organisers using the details below.

7. Photography and recording

  • The event may be photographed or filmed. By attending you agree that images and footage that include you may be used to promote the event and future editions.
  • If you would prefer not to appear, tell the organisers at the venue.

8. Changes and cancellation

  • Organisers may change the date, venue, format, or these terms if circumstances require. Registered teams will be told by email and WhatsApp.
  • If the event cannot go ahead, registrations will be cancelled and participants informed. Registration is free, so no refund arises.

9. Liability

  • Participants attend at their own risk and are responsible for their own belongings and travel.
  • Organisers are not liable for loss, injury, or expense except where the law does not allow that to be excluded.
